WINTER 2008 NEWS

This fall has been stacked full of travel and excitement for us here at Kenray Ranch. So far our highlights have included catching up with fellow breeders at Red Round-Up, various female sales and of course our annual Agribition Holiday. It is always great to catch up with old friends and make new contacts within the beef industry. We have just returned from Agribition with some new ideas and a rekindled passion for how we make our living. The beef industry is very dynamic and not for the weak of heart. We continue to srive to improve our breeding herd to meet the demands of the commercial beef producer. We have a couple of other fall sales to attend before we can start to wind down to celebrate the festive season. We at Kenray Ranch personally invite you to attend the Keystone Klassic, December 6th and the Red Coat Angus Advantage on December 13 both in Brandon, MB. If you are unable to attend please feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have regarding our offerings.

ABOUT KENRAY RANCH

Winter Grazing

Kenray Ranch is located 7 miles south of the town of Redvers in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan. The ranch is primarily owned by Ray & Donelda Kyle and operated with the help of Lyndon & Karmen, and Sheldon Kyle. The next generation continues to expand the land base and develop the breeding herd for the future. Ray's great grandparents homesteaded the property in 1902, the Kyle's are extremely proud that in 2002 they received their century family farm award. The Kyle's have been actively involved in the breeding of quality Red Angus since 1986.

Kenray Ranch attends Canadian Western Agribition every November in Regina. This is the perfect venue for Kenray Ranch to display their breeding program to a large number of cattlemen. We always enjoy visiting with old and new customers alike during our Agribition "holiday".

Kenray Ranch has set the goal of producing breeding stock that meets the demands of the current beef industry. RANCH HISTORY

First Simmental GeneticsBranded Quality The name Kenray Ranch was derived from the names of two of the pioneers at the ranch, Ken Kyle (left) and his eldest son Ray (right). In the 1970's Kenray Ranch were involved in breeding top quality Simmental genetics and actively imported new genetics from Germany. When Ray and his wife, Donelda, took over complete operation of the ranch, in 1981 they started to breed their replacement Simmental females to calving ease Red Angus sires. The results of this cross impressed Ray and Donelda so much that it led to the complete transition to Angus. In the fall of 1986 a group of registered Red Angus females were purchased from Moose Creek Red Angus. In the fall of 1999 an opportunity to acquire a group of Black Angus females presented itself. The registered Red Angus herd has grown to a current cow base of 160, while the Black Angus herd consists of 20 cows.
